The Traxxas Rustler is one of the most popular bashers on the market. The Rustler is considered a stadium truck that has a fast and furious personality. It can jump, do wheelies, and is a great all-around basher. But what scale is the Traxxas Rustler? How much car are you really getting and how big is it? In this post, we will take a look at the Traxxas Rustler and see how big it really is.
How Big Is The Traxxas Rustler?
The Traxxas Rustler is a 1/10 scale truck. It comes in several different configurations, and there is even a nitro version if you are interested in nitro trucks! Each version is a 1:10 scale. So no matter which version you decide to buy, they are all going to be about the same size.

The dimensions of each model could vary slightly from our table above, but not by much. You can expect each version to be about the same size. The Nitro Version is probably going to be the largest and heaviest due to the engine and fuel tank.
How Much Does The Traxxas Rustler Cost?
The two-wheel drive Ruster with a brushed motor is the most affordable version. However, the Rustler 4X4 VXL +TSM model comes with many upgraded parts and is more expensive.
When I wrote this article, the prices for each model were pulled from the Traxxas Website. You could possibly find the models on Amazon for a different price. I also had trouble finding the 2WD VXL and the 4X4 brushed model in stock online. The Base model and the 4X4 VXL models are usually in stock on Amazon. If you are unsure which Rustler you should get, check out our blog comparing the Rustler VXL with the 4X4 brushed model.

What Motor Does the Traxxas Rustler Have?
The motor that comes in the Traxxas Rustler will either be the Titan 550 brushed motor or the Velineon 3500kV brushless motor.
The Titan 12T 550 brushless motor comes in the non-VXL models. So, the 2WD base model and the 4X4 base model Rustlers will be powered by this motor. Since this is a brushed motor, you can expect max speeds of about 35 miles per hour. Brushed motors are not as powerful, efficient, or expensive as brushless motors. The brushed motor and XL5 ESC are two parts that help keep costs down on the base model Rustlers. However, you can always upgrade you truck’s parts in the future. Take a look at our reccomended 2WD Rustler upgrades if you’re interested in the 2WD model.
All VXL versions of the Rustler will come with the Velineon 3500 kV motor and the VXL-3S electronic speed controller. These components are more expensive, but they produce way more power!
If you are looking for an RC truck that can reach high speeds, get one of the VXL models. The 4X4 VXL model will have more low-end torque than the 2WD version. If you decide to pick up a VXL Rustler, Traxxas claims you can reach speeds of 65+ miles per hour.

Conclusion for What Scale Is The Traxxas Rustler
The Traxxas Rustler is a fast stadium truck that I consider a medium size. It’s like a Tasmanian Devil. It packs a lot of power in a compact, yet aggressive-looking, chassis. The Traxxas Rustler is a 1/10 scale RC truck, and 1/10 scale RC trucks are generally pretty big vehicles. If you compare the Rustler to the Traxxas Slash, it will be slightly smaller even though it’s the same scale. So, if you are looking to buy a fast and fun RC truck, I highly recommend the Rustler. You won’t be disappointed in its handling or toughness. I would recommend at least buying a 4X4 model because you can’t upgrade the drive train. You can always upgrade the motors and other components, but the drive train is pretty much set in stone. Happy driving!
