Which Traxxas Slash Should I Buy?
If you are looking for a entry level RC truck that is smaller and less expensive, you should look at buying the 1/16 scale Slash. This vehicle will be cheaper to maintain and operate. The brushed motor will be cheaper to replace if it wears out compared to the brushless motor on the 1/10 scale Slash.
The 1/16 scale Slash also comes with a battery and charger. That is a lot of money saved right there. This smaller Slash also runs on NiMH batteries which tend to be cheaper than LiPo batteries.
On the other hand, the 1/10 scale Slash is geared to more serious drivers. The larger frame makes it a better option for off road driving and bashing. You can also hit large jump with the 1/10 scale Slash because the suspension is setup for short course racing. I don’t recommend hitting big jumps with the 1/16 scale Slash because it suspension isn’t set up for that type of driving.
If you are looking to drive over rougher terrain, hit jumps, and race on a track, the 1/10 scale Slash is the better option.
I think the larger model Slash is an amazing truck. It is really fast and can hit speeds up to 60+ miles per hour if you get the brushless version. I was blown away by the Slash the first time I drove it.
What Scale Is The Traxxas Slash Conclusion
As you can see, the 1/16 scale Traxxas Slash is a great model for entry level drivers. It is a great first RC truck. The 1/10 scale Slash is much larger, has better suspension, and can reach higher maximum speeds. For those reasons, I think the 1/10 scale Slash is better for drivers that want to push the limits of the truck. Both are great vehicles and will be a ton of fun to drive. All you have to decide is how rough do you want to get with your truck?
If you are driving on paved surface or around your neighborhood, the 1/16 scale will be a great truck. If you want to bash in the mud and dirt or hit jumps, pay a little extra for the 1/10 scale model. You won’t be disappointed!
Happy driving!
